Bank of Scotland's £10 notes of this period were issued under the Scottish Note Issue framework, which permits Scottish clearing banks to issue their own banknotes provided they hold an equivalent value of Bank of England notes in reserve — a requirement unchanged since the Bankers Act of 1845. De La Rue printed the series at their Gateshead facility, though the company's registered address remains London.
Two distinct signature combinations exist within this short issue window, making date attribution straightforward. The Stevenson/Matthew pairing preceded a board-level change that brought Daniels and Kane onto the notes by early 2009.
