| 备注 |
Bank of Scotland's Tercentenary series, which this note belongs to, was issued around the bank's 300th anniversary in 1995 — though notes in this Pick 117 range were circulating from 1992, ahead of the formal commemorative push. The bank was founded by an Act of the Scottish Parliament in 1695, making it one of the oldest surviving banks in the world to have issued notes continuously.
Scottish banknotes are not legal tender anywhere, including Scotland — they circulate by custom and acceptance, not legal obligation. This distinction has caused persistent friction, particularly in England, where refusals remain common despite the notes being perfectly valid claims on the issuing bank.
