Six distinct signature combinations across eleven years makes this one of the more administratively complex entries in the Fijian colonial series — the rotating trio of signatories reflects the Currency Board structure, where the Financial Secretary, the Colonial Secretary, and a third appointed officer all had to authenticate each issue. Changes in any one position triggered a new variety, which is why collectors track these by date so carefully.
Bradbury Wilkinson's intaglio work for Fiji during this period was technically accomplished, but the high denomination meant these notes rarely entered everyday use. At £10, the face value exceeded most Fijians' weekly wages by a considerable margin. Surviving examples with light circulation are more common than might be expected precisely because so few ever reached retail trade.
