正面描述 Orange-brown note with the bank name "BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES" in letterpress along the top and bottom borders. Two oval guilloche vignettes at left and right flank a central manuscript-style promise-to-pay text, with "TEN POUNDS" in large letters across the centre. Denomination numeral "10" appears in each upper corner, with serial numbers and "MANAGER" signature line at lower right.

背面描述 Plain unadorned reverse printed in orange-brown on cream paper, with a simple single-rule rectangular border frame. Four oval guilloche medallions occupy each corner, and a central octagonal panel carries the word "TEN" in bold serif capitals. The design is deliberately minimal with no additional vignettes or text.

备注

The Bank of New South Wales was Australia's oldest trading bank, established in 1817, and continued issuing its own notes well into the Commonwealth period — the federal government's monopoly on note issue wasn't fully enforced until 1910–11, which is precisely the window this note occupies. High-denomination private bank notes of this period were used almost exclusively for interbank settlements and large commercial transactions, not retail circulation, which kept survival rates low.

No printer attribution has been firmly established for P#A88 in the standard references. Unattributed notes from this transitional period are not uncommon — the bank's records from the final years of private issue are incomplete.
