10 Pounds 15th Hijrah Century, Copper Piedfort

The 15th Hijri Century commemoration was a pan-Islamic initiative that prompted numerous Muslim-majority states to issue special coinage around 1979–1981, marking 1,400 years since the Prophet's migration from Mecca to Medina. Sudan participated with both standard and piedfort strikings. Piedforts — coins struck on blanks of double or greater than standard thickness — were produced almost exclusively for collectors and diplomatic presentation; they saw no circulation whatsoever.
