| Obverse description | The Z.A.R. coat of arms occupies the left portion of the note within an ornate decorative surround. The right three-quarters carries the denomination, date hand-stamped in manuscript, and two manuscript signatures of the Auditor-General and Treasurer-General, all enclosed within a guilloche-enriched border. The serial number appears above and to the left of the central text block, which sets out the full Dutch-language promise-to-pay obligation. |

| Reverse lettering | Art, 2. - Deze noten zullen een gedwegen koers hebben totdat zij afgelost zullen worden; de aflossing zal geschieden bij wijze van uitloting, de bijzonderheden waarvan later zullen worden bepaald en zal beginnen op 1 Juni 1901, wanneer een bedrag van een honderd duizend pond sterling zal worden afgelost, totdat het geheele bedrag zal zijn afgelost. Zoodra eene noot uitgeloot en afgelost is, zal ze door den Thesaurier-Generaal en Auditeur-Generaal in tegenwoordigheid van twee personen, door de Regeering benoemd, worden vernietigd. Art. 3 . - Deze Noten zullen een rentekoers hebben van zes persent per annum, betaalbaar aan den houder in klinkende munt, iedere 1ste Juni voor het afgeloopen jaar op het kantoor van den Thesaurier-Generaal of een per proclamatie aangewezen bank of banken. |
