附加信息

Miguel Malvar is one of the least internationally recognized figures of the Philippine-American War, despite having commanded the longest resistance. After Emilio Aguinaldo's capture in 1901, Malvar assumed leadership of the revolutionary forces in Batangas and continued fighting for nearly a year before surrendering in April 1902 — his capitulation effectively ending organized armed resistance to American occupation. The Americans then imposed a collective punishment policy on Batangas province, a scorched-earth campaign that killed tens of thousands of civilians through violence and famine.
