The "Ang Bagong Lipunan" — New Society — inscription on this series was not decorative. Marcos formally declared martial law in September 1972 and rebranded the currency along with everything else, the phrase appearing on notes as deliberate ideological marking. Giesecke & Devrient's Munich facility handled most BSP work during this period; Leipzig was the East German operation and almost certainly not the printing site for Philippine government contracts during the Cold War, despite what some catalog attributions carry forward.
Four signature combinations across the print run reflect genuine ministerial turnover: Licaros, Laya, and Fernandez each served as Central Bank Governor under Marcos, and the shift from black to red serial numbers on the Fernandez pairing indicates a mid-run security change rather than a new issue date.
