The "Ang Bagong Lipunan" inscription — meaning "The New Society" — was Marcos's declaration in print. After declaring martial law in September 1972, his regime rebranded the currency series itself as propaganda, embedding the slogan directly into the note design. Seal type 2 distinguishes this issue from the transitional type 1 variants that appeared at the series' opening, with the seal change tracking administrative reorganizations within the Bangko Sentral during the martial law period.
Thomas De La Rue's involvement brought consistent intaglio quality to the series, though the long print run from 1973 to 1985 means surviving examples span a wide range of wear.
