The inscription 'REPUBLIQUE LIBANAISE' arches across the top, with the denomination '10 PIASTRES' repeated in the upper left and upper right corners within circular guilloche frames, and the date legend 'BEYROUTH LE 12 Janvier 1948' running along the lower border.

Lebanon's 1948 10 Piastres note was issued by the Banque de Syrie et du Liban, which retained its role as the currency authority even after Lebanese independence in 1943 — a transitional arrangement that persisted until the Banque du Liban was finally established in 1964. The note's issuing header reads "République Libanaise" but the institution behind it was still the Franco-Syrian joint bank, a relic of Mandate-era financial architecture.

The small-denomination piastre notes of this period were heavily used in everyday commerce and survivors in any decent state are harder to locate than the higher values from the same series.
