Linde AG's Höllriegelskreuth facility, south of Munich on the Isar, was the company's original headquarters and primary production site for industrial gas equipment. Factory tokens of this type were issued as internal scrip — redeemable at company canteens or stores — a practice common in German industrial firms well into the mid-twentieth century. Nickel-plated zinc composition points to wartime or immediate postwar issue, when raw material restrictions made solid nickel impractical.
