Aanvullende informatie

Bamberg's spinning mill issued this zinc notgeld in 1917 as Germany's wartime metal requisitions gutted the coin supply. Zinc was itself a compromise — copper and nickel had long since been redirected to shell casings and military hardware. Factory-issued scrip of this type circulated almost exclusively within the issuing plant's workforce, redeemable at the company canteen or against wages, which is why survivor populations cluster in either mint-state hoards or heavily worn examples with almost nothing in between.
