Triebes was a small textile-manufacturing town in the principality of Reuss jüngerer Linie — a micro-state so obscure it had already ceased to exist by November 1918, absorbed into Thuringia before this note was even printed. The Gemeindevorstand was issuing emergency Kleingeld into a republic it had not yet formally joined, against a backdrop of coin shortages so severe that hundreds of German municipalities printed their own fractional paper simultaneously in 1919.

Müller's signature as Bürgermeister is the sole point of legal accountability on the note — no bank, no state treasury, just a mayor's name guaranteeing ten pfennigs in a town of a few thousand people.
