Obverse description Central field displays the Bavarian arms as a crowned shield bearing the characteristic lozengy (fusilly in bend) pattern of the Wittelsbach dynasty, with a small escutcheon at the centre base. The shield is flanked on both sides by stylised palm or laurel branches, rendered in low relief. A ducal crown surmounts the shield, all contained within a plain inner circle. The design is executed in the bold, somewhat rustic hammered style typical of late 17th-century Bavarian provincial coinage.
