Obverse description Central device comprises the Imperial German eagle displayed, with wings spread and feathers rendered in fine detail, its head turned to the right and surmounted by a small imperial crown. The breast of the eagle bears a small heraldic shield. The mint mark 'A' appears twice in the lower field, flanking the base of the eagle's talons. The entire design is contained within a rope-style border encircling the inner field.
