| Beschrijving keerzijde | Plain field at center bears the large numeral '10' in bold relief, denoting the token's face value in Pfennig. Surrounding the numeral is a rope-and-dot decorative inner border. The peripheral legend KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE arcs around the upper portion of the field, indicating the piece's status as a small-change substitute token. Three five-pointed stars are evenly spaced along the lower arc of the border, serving as ornamental separators. The overall design is simple and utilitarian, consistent with wartime emergency coinage practice. |

Werne an der Lippe issued this iron notgeld piece in 1917 as wartime metal shortages forced hundreds of small German municipalities to produce their own emergency coinage. By that point, copper and nickel had been systematically redirected to munitions production, leaving local magistrates with little choice but iron — a metal so poorly suited to coinage that most surviving examples show significant oxidation regardless of how they were stored.
