| Reverse description | A continuous pearl border frames the octagonal periphery, within which the circular legend KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE runs around the upper portion of the field. An inner rope or beaded circle encloses the large, prominent numeral 10 at center, denoting the denomination. Three six-pointed stars are evenly spaced along the lower arc of the inner circle, serving as decorative stops. |

Torgau's 1917 iron Notgeld issue belongs to the first wave of municipal emergency coinage that swept German cities after the imperial government's wartime metal requisitions stripped copper and nickel from civilian circulation. Iron was a poor substitute — it corroded readily in pocket humidity and wore unevenly — which is precisely why survivors in decent condition are harder to find than mintage figures alone would suggest.
