| 正面描述 | A plain field carries a two-line inscription reading STEIN B/NBG in bold capital letters at center, with the legend GEMEINDE arching along the upper rim and the date 1917 positioned along the lower portion of the field. The design is enclosed by a beaded border running the full circumference of the coin. The overall layout is purely typographic, reflecting the utilitarian character of World War I German notgeld coinage. |

Issued by the municipality of Stein bei Nürnberg in 1917, this is a piece of Kriegsgeld — emergency coinage produced by German towns, cities, and industrial concerns when the imperial government's requisitioning of copper and nickel for munitions production left normal small-denomination coinage in acute short supply. Zinc, though harder to strike cleanly and prone to corrosion, was the practical substitute. Thousands of such local issues appeared between 1916 and 1918, each municipality essentially solving its own liquidity problem independently.
