| 背面描述 | The central field displays the large numeral 10 in bold relief, denoting the face value of ten Pfennig, set within a rope or cable inner border. The circular legend KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE arcs around the upper portion of the coin, indicating its function as a small-change substitute token. Three five-pointed stars are evenly spaced along the lower arc below the cable border. The rim is defined by an outer beaded border. The design is plain and utilitarian, characteristic of World War I German emergency coinage. |

Schwarzenbach an der Saale issued this iron notgeld piece in 1917, when the German war economy had stripped copper and zinc from civilian coinage to feed munitions production. Iron was the reluctant substitute — it rusted, it stuck in vending mechanisms, and nobody wanted it — but the Reichsbank's centralized small-change supply had collapsed so completely that hundreds of municipalities were left to fend for themselves.
