| Obverse description | The obverse is set within an ornate scrollwork border in red and grey. At the top centre, the divided municipal coat of arms of Wismar is displayed in yellow, red, and white. Below the arms, two circular vignettes show portrait busts of dogs — the male champion 'Hares von der Jüch, Sieger 1921' at left and the female champion 'Nanthild von Riedekenourg, Siegerin 1921' at right — separated by a teal floral rosette. At centre, the denomination '10 Pfennig' is printed in white Gothic script within a red disc surrounded by decorative black scrollwork. Below this, the large Gothic legend 'Notgeldschein' appears in red, followed by the issuing authority text and validity clause, with a serial number in a ruled box at the bottom. The printer's imprint 'Kunstdruckerei A. Sander, Wismar.' runs vertically along the right margin. |

| Reverse description | The reverse carries a full-colour vignette set within an arched frame against a solid black background. The central scene depicts the old water tower (Alter Wasserturm) of Wismar, a medieval stone tower with a red conical roof, surrounded by large linden trees and flanked by an adjacent building at right. Four national and municipal flags on poles frame the scene — two to the left and two to the right — with an additional red and white striped flag at the top of the arch. A light blue foreground suggests a water surface. A captioned panel at the base of the arch reads the identification text in black letterpress. |
