| Opis awersu | A central oval vignette presents a panoramic view of Ilmenau looking eastward toward the Thuringian Forest, rendered against a brown-toned ground and enclosed within a decorative border. The first four verses of Goethe's 1783 poem 'Ilmenau' are inscribed as a legend above the vignette, lending the note a distinctly literary character. The denomination '10 Pfg' is stated in the lower portion of the design, flanked by the issuer inscription 'NOTGELD . STADT . ILMENAU'. |

A vertical serial number appears at left and the issue date '1. JANUAR 1921' at right. The lower panel carries the validity clause and the manuscript signature of the Stadtgemeindevorstand. |
