正面描述 Octagonal zinc notgeld token with a plain, typographic design. The large numeral '10' dominates the central field, flanked above by the date '1917' and below by the issuer name. A circular dotted border frames the inner field, within which the circumferential legend reads 'BENEDIKT V. POSCHINGER' along the upper arc and 'OBERZWIESELAU' along the lower arc, with small six-pointed floral or star ornaments serving as separators. An outer ring of raised dots follows the octagonal periphery of the flan.

附加信息

Issued by the Poschinger glassmaking dynasty at their Oberzwieselau works in Bavaria, this is wartime Notgeld in its most industrial form. The German zinc shortage of 1917 was severe enough that the Reichsbank actively encouraged private firms to issue their own small-denomination tokens to relieve the disappearance of imperial coinage from circulation — copper and nickel had been redirected to munitions production since 1915. That a glass manufacturer was striking zinc coins says everything about how thoroughly the war had disrupted normal monetary infrastructure.
