正面描述 The obverse features the municipal coat of arms of Neckarsulm at center, depicting a quartered heraldic shield with decorative mantling above, set within an octagonal field. The shield displays vertical striping and floral or foliate ornaments in the lower quarters, rendered in a flat, low-relief style typical of German Notgeld coinage. The circular legend reads STADTGEMEINDE at the top and NECKARSULM at the bottom, separated by raised bullet stops at either side of the field. The design is austere and utilitarian, consistent with wartime emergency coinage struck in zinc.

背面描述 The reverse displays the large bold numeral '10' dominating the central field, rendered in an Art Nouveau-influenced style with a decorative curved tail on the figure, enclosed within a raised oval frame. The date 1919 is split to either side of the lower numeral, with '19' appearing at lower left and '19' at lower right. The legend KRIEGSMÜNZE (war coin) arcs around the upper periphery, while PFENNIG is inscribed along the lower border. Decorative scroll ornaments occupy the four diagonal corners of the octagonal flan, enhancing the overall composition.

附加信息

Neckarsulm issued this notgeld piece in 1919 under the acute coin famine that gripped German municipalities following the war — federal minting capacity had collapsed, and local governments were legally permitted to fill the gap with their own emergency issues. Zinc was the practical choice: copper and nickel had been exhausted by military demand, and aluminum supplies were unreliable at the municipal level.

Neckarsulm was already home to the NSU factory, which would eventually produce motorcycles and automobiles, but in 1919 the town was scrambling like every other mid-sized Württemberg community to keep small transactions functional.
