German military depot tokens — Lagergeld in the broadest sense — were authorized for internal canteen and supply transactions at installations where paying troops in Reichsmark created accounting or security headaches. The München Artilleriedepot issues are among the more obscure of the Bavarian military tokens, produced in zinc likely during the First World War when copper and nickel had been redirected to the war effort entirely.
The Hasselmann reference pins this as a recognized variant within a small numbered series, suggesting at least minor die differences exist across the type.
