| Beschrijving voorzijde | An outer pearl border follows the octagonal periphery of the token, enclosing a circular rope border within which the large numeral '10' is prominently displayed in the central field. The curved legend 'FRIEDENSGRUBE' arcs around the upper portion of the rope circle, identifying the issuing colliery. A single six-pointed star appears below the central numeral at the base of the inner circle, serving as a decorative stop. |

Issued by the Friedensgrube colliery in Meuselwitz, this is a piece of Lagergeld — the private token currency used by German mining operations to pay workers in scrip redeemable only at company-owned stores. The practice kept wages circulating within the company's own economy. Zinc was the practical choice during and after the First World War, when copper and nickel were reserved for military use, and dozens of Thuringian mining operations issued nearly identical token systems under the same pressures.
