Kreissparkasse Lüchow was the savings institution of Lüchow district in Lower Saxony, and like hundreds of comparable German municipal and county-level bodies, it issued small-denomination emergency money — Notgeld — during the acute coin shortages of 1917–1921. Notes at this denomination were essentially fractional currency substitutes, filling the gap left by hoarded Pfennig coins. The Lüchow issues are minor provincial pieces with no documented printing curiosity or known varieties of significance.

At 50 × 35 mm, this is among the smallest format produced in the Notgeld series.
