Kelheim issued this zinc notgeld piece in 1917 as wartime metal requisitioning stripped municipal coffers of copper and nickel. The nickel-plated variant almost certainly emerged from a separate striking run intended for presentation or local distribution rather than hard circulation — the base zinc examples show far heavier wear patterns consistent with actual use at market stalls and transit points along the Danube.
