| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse displays the elaborate coat of arms of the city of Hof an der Saale at center, featuring a shield bearing a lion passant set within an ornate architectural composition. Flanking the shield are two armored knights acting as supporters, each holding a lance or staff, while two coniferous trees rise to either side, lending a heraldic, sylvan character to the design. Behind the central shield rises a three-towered castle or gatehouse with onion-domed turrets, evoking the historic cityscape of Hof. The date appears in a recessed cartouche or panel along the lower portion of the design. The curved legend STADT HOF arcs across the upper field in bold Latin capitals, separated from the inner design by a beaded border running along the rim. |
