| Beschrijving keerzijde | Reverse design mirrors the obverse: an octagonal flan with a pearl (beaded) outer rim enclosing the circular legend KRIEGSNOTGELD KREIS GARDELEGEN, a five-pointed star serving as a divider, and a central beaded circle bearing the numeral '10'. The flat field between the borders carries the inscription in plain Latin capitals, consistent with the uniform emergency coinage style issued by the district. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Gardelegen issued notgeld coinage during the severe metal shortages of World War I, when the imperial government's requisitioning of copper and nickel for munitions gutted the normal coin supply. District and municipal authorities across Germany filled the gap with locally produced emergency pieces, often in zinc, iron, or even pressed paper. Kreis Gardelegen's zinc issues were functional stopgaps, not collector pieces — though the collecting mania for notgeld that swept Germany in the early 1920s ensured many were preserved unused.
The Funck reference remains the standard catalog for German civil notgeld coinage of this period.
