| Reverse description | An outer pearl border follows the octagonal flan, within which the circular legend KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE is arranged around the upper periphery. An inner twisted rope circle encloses the central field, where the large numeral 10 is prominently raised. Three five-pointed stars are disposed at the base of the composition, with one centrally placed below the rope circle and one flanking each side, serving as decorative separators. |

Frauenau's glassworks, deep in the Bavarian Forest, issued emergency coinage — Notgeld — during the acute small-change shortages that gripped Germany after World War I. Factory-issued tokens like this one were a practical stopgap: the company paid workers partly in scrip redeemable at the company store, sidestepping the near-total collapse of low-denomination state coinage in circulation. Brass-plated zinc was the material of necessity, not preference.
