Additional information

Erbendorf's 1917 zinc notgeld issue belongs to the first wave of municipal emergency coinage produced after the German imperial government's wartime metal requisitions stripped copper and nickel from everyday circulation. Zinc, itself a war material, was briefly tolerated for local issues before tightening restrictions made even these small municipal strikes increasingly difficult to authorize.
