| 表面の説明 | The city arms of Crefeld occupy the central field, displayed as a heraldic shield divided into three sections featuring a field of raised dots above and below a horizontal band of finer dot-work, surmounted by a municipal crown. The shield is set within a plain raised circle, flanked on either side by the Latin legend STADT CREFELD reading around the inner border. A beaded outer border frames the entire design. |

Krefeld's wartime notgeld zinc issues were struck locally to address the acute small-change shortage that gripped German municipalities from 1917 onward, as federal authorities redirected copper and nickel entirely toward the war effort. The city's name appears in its older spelling, "Crefeld," reflecting civic identity at a moment when the industrial Rhineland was under enormous strain — the region's textile mills, for which Krefeld had been famous across Europe, were by then running on skeleton labor forces.
