Aanvullende informatie

Krefeld's 1919 iron notgeld emerged from the same postwar material constraints that forced hundreds of German municipalities to issue their own emergency coinage — wartime requisitioning had stripped civilian minting of copper and nickel, leaving iron as the default. The city had been a major center of silk and velvet weaving for centuries, and its industrial base was in serious disruption during the Allied occupation of the Rhineland, which began that same year under the terms of the Armistice.

Funck 84.9A identifies this as a specific die variant within the Krefeld series — collectors should note the distinction from adjacent catalog numbers before attributing.
