Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse displays the large numeral '10' prominently in the upper field, rendered in a bold decorative style within a hatched and geometric patterned inner border. Beneath the numeral, the word 'PFENNIG' is inscribed in capital letters across the centre of the field. Below this, the municipal coat of arms of Lüdenscheid is depicted centrally, showing a quartered shield with a standing armoured figure. A circular legend reading 'STADT LÜDENSCHEID' runs along the lower periphery, separated from the inner design by a beaded or rope-like border.

Aanvullende informatie

Lüdenscheid was among the first German municipalities to experiment with cardboard Notgeld during the acute metal shortages of World War I, when copper, nickel, and zinc were being diverted wholesale to the war effort. This piece is a test striking — produced to evaluate whether cardboard could survive the mechanical demands of vending machines and toll barriers before full issue authorization.

Most cardboard test pieces were destroyed after evaluation. The survival rate is exceptionally low.
