| Additional information |
Burghausen's acetone factory was part of Germany's desperate wartime chemicals push — acetone being essential for cordite propellant manufacture. When small-denomination coinage vanished from circulation after 1914, hundreds of German industrial firms issued their own iron or zinc tokens to pay workers and operate canteen systems. This piece is one of those Kriegsnotgeld issues, circulating entirely within the factory's internal economy rather than the broader monetary system.
