| 表面の説明 | Plain field bearing the large numeral '10' centrally positioned, with the legend 'BAD HOMBURG v.d.H.' arcing along the upper left periphery in raised Latin lettering. The denomination 'PFENNIG' is inscribed horizontally below the numeral, and the date '1918' appears along the lower margin. A circular perforation is struck through the upper portion of the field, characteristic of wartime German Notgeld issues. The design is utilitarian in style, devoid of decorative motifs, with the inscriptions contained within a smooth, flat field. |

Bad Homburg's 1918 iron notgeld issue belongs to the first major wave of municipal emergency coinage that swept German cities as the imperial government requisitioned copper and nickel for war production. The city — best known as a spa resort favored by Kaiser Wilhelm II and the source of the homburg hat's name — issued these pieces as the imperial coinage system effectively collapsed in the final year of the war.
Iron was a poor substitute: it corroded readily in circulation, which accounts for the difficulty in finding undamaged survivors today.
