Reverse description An outer beaded (pearl) rim frames a circular rope border enclosing the central field. The legend KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE arcs along the upper interior of the rope circle, reading clockwise, while the large numeral '10' is prominently centered in the field as the denomination indicator. Three six-pointed stars serve as decorative stops at the lower portion of the legend, evenly spaced below the numeral. The spare, utilitarian design is characteristic of wartime small-change substitute coinage (Kleingeldersatzmarken).

Algringen — the German name for Algrange — was a small iron-mining commune in Lorraine administered as part of the Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen after 1871. This zinc notgeld piece was issued during the First World War, when the Imperial German government's wartime metal requisitions stripped copper and nickel from civilian coinage, forcing municipalities across occupied and annexed territories to produce their own emergency currency. Zinc was the fallback material: abundant, cheap, and deeply unpopular in circulation due to its tendency to corrode and crack.
