| Reverse description | The reverse is printed in red, black, and ochre with a bold red border carrying the repeated motto 'OHNE FLEISS KEIN PREIS' on all four sides. The central vignette in a cream panel illustrates two cobblers seated on stools at work among finished boots, a lively genre scene referencing Weida's shoe-manufacturing trade. Below the scene, a broad ochre band carries the bold black inscription 'WEIDAER SCHUH-FABRIKATION', with the denomination '10 PF.' in black letterpress at the upper corners. |

Weida is a small town in eastern Thuringia, and this 10 Pfennig Notgeld piece is one of four related issues cataloged under the same Grabowski-Mehl reference block. Like the vast majority of municipal Kleingeldscheine issued between 1917 and 1921, it was produced in direct response to the wartime and postwar hoarding of metal coinage — small change effectively vanished from circulation, forcing even minor municipalities to print their own substitutes.
E. Günther of Gera handled a substantial volume of Thuringian Notgeld work during this period, serving numerous neighboring towns as the regional printer of choice.
