Obverse description Printed entirely in red on white paper, the obverse is divided into three horizontal registers by ruled border lines. The uppermost panel carries the bold letterpress legend NOTGROSCHEN in decorative Art Nouveau lettering. The central register presents the large numeral 10 flanked by two heraldic lion vignettes in relief style. The lower register bears the issuing authority inscription DES KREISES WINSEN, with a further narrow panel below reading the redemption notice EINLÖSBAR BIS 30. JUNI 1921.

Reverse description Printed in dark brown on a pale blue underprint, the reverse centres on a finely drawn vignette of the half-timbered Kirche zu Egestorf i/L. (Church at Egestorf in the Lüneburg Heath), with the handwritten-style caption Kirche zu Egestorf i/L. arching above the building. The denomination numeral 10 appears in bold boxed panels at each upper corner, with the denomination legend PFENNIG set in decorative lettering across the upper centre; large stylised letter numerals S and a question-mark ornament occupy the lower side panels, with the initials FS in the lower right corner.
