| 表面の説明 | Green-tinted note with a black and ochre decorative border of zigzag pattern and corner numeral "10" medallions. The central text, rendered in Gothic Fraktur script, carries the denomination "Zehn Pfennig" in large letters across the middle field, above and below which appear the conditions of acceptance and redemption at all municipal cashiers of Lingen. A vignette of the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall), dated 1663, occupies the lower centre, with a banner beneath reading "Altes Rathaus". Two manuscript signatures appear at the bottom left and right, attributed to the Magistrat and the Bürgervorsteher-Kollegium respectively. |

Lingen's wartime Kleingeldersatz — small-change substitute money — was a direct response to the near-total disappearance of metal coinage from circulation during the First World War. As the German public hoarded copper and nickel, municipalities across the Reich scrambled to fill the gap with locally issued paper Notgeld. Adolf Forker in Leipzig handled a significant volume of these municipal commissions, producing notes for dozens of towns simultaneously.
Lingen, a small administrative centre on the Ems in Lower Saxony, had no printing infrastructure of its own — Leipzig was the practical choice.
