The upper portion carries the denomination legend 'ZEHN PFENNIG' in large Art Nouveau-style lettering across the top. The central vignette presents a view of a large Gothic church with a distinctive orange-tiled roof and a tall green spire, before which a colonnaded building and a busy market scene with figures in period dress are rendered in a bold lithographic style. In the lower-left corner, the city coat of arms of Schwerin — a shield bearing an equestrian figure — is printed, and below the vignette the inscription reads 'REUTERGELD DER LANDESHAUPTSTADT SCHWERIN i/M' in prominent block lettering.

Opmerkingen

Schwerin i.M. — the "i.M." distinguishing it from the several other German Schwerins — issued this Notgeld piece during the inflationary spiral of 1922, well before the hyperinflationary peak but already deep enough into the crisis that municipal authorities across Germany were printing their own small-denomination emergency money to compensate for chronic coin shortages. The Rat der Stadt, the city council, acted as direct issuer rather than routing the obligation through a local savings bank or chamber of commerce, which was the more common arrangement.

The DeNG catalog places this in the 1214.1 series, suggesting at least minor variety distinctions exist within the Schwerin municipal issues — worth cross-referencing before attributing a specific date or text variant.
