| Obverse description | The obverse is laid out in a predominantly yellow and grey colour scheme with an ornate floral border in black and yellow running along all four sides, with the denomination numeral '10' printed in red at each corner. Lage is a small town in the Lippe district, and its Stadtkasse issued this note during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany in the early Weimar period — a crisis severe enough that hundreds of municipalities, businesses, and even individual shops printed their own Kleingeldersatz. C. Supan was a local Detmold printer, not a specialist banknote firm, which is exactly the point: this kind of notgeld was never meant to be art, just functional paper to move commerce along when coinage had all but vanished from daily trade.
The DeNG reference places it firmly within the documented Lippe municipal issues, but Lage's output was small, and Supan's local production run almost certainly numbered in the low thousands.
