Ruhpolding is a small Bavarian resort village in the Chiemgau Alps — not the sort of place that would normally appear in a numismatic catalog. But the post-WWI Kleingeldersatz crisis forced even the smallest German municipalities to print their own emergency currency when coin shortages became acute. Gebrüder Parcus of Munich was one of the more prolific printers of Bavarian Notgeld, handling output for dozens of communities during this period.
The 1b suffix in the reference distinguishes a specific paper or color variant within the R58 series — worth confirming against the physical note before cataloging.
