正面描述 Brown letterpress note without serial number. The central vignette shows a right-facing portrait bust of a soldier wearing a steel helmet (Stahlhelm), flanked on each side by a circular underprint medallion bearing the inscription '10 / STADT DÜREN / 1919'. The denomination numeral '10' appears in large type at upper left and upper right, with 'STADT DÜREN' printed vertically at the outer margins. A Gothic-script text block below the vignettes states the redemption conditions, dated 'Düren, den 20. Februar 1920', and carries a manuscript signature above the title 'Oberbürgermeister'.

备注

Düren's 1920 notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of municipal emergency money, by which point German cities had largely abandoned the improvised wartime scrip and were commissioning properly printed, sometimes quite elaborate small-denomination notes. The Rhineland context matters here: Düren lay within the Allied occupation zone following the Armistice, and local commerce was functioning under conditions of chronic coin shortage that the Reichsbank was slow to address from Berlin.

The Merkelbach reference numbers 29–30 indicate two variants within this denomination — typically a signature or date distinction, though without confirmed documentation, the precise differentiator should not be assumed.
