Opmerkingen

Rheingaukreis issued this small-denomination Notgeld in 1919 as the postwar currency shortage made even minor coinage effectively unavailable. District-level emergency money of this kind was often a local administrative decision made under pressure, with councils turning to whatever commercial printer was nearest and willing. Carl Naumann's Frankfurt shop, operating continuously since 1821, was a logical choice — a well-established commercial house rather than a specialist securities printer.

The R26.3 catalog designation suggests multiple variants exist within this issue, likely differing in serial numbering, date placement, or ink color — distinctions that matter to Notgeld specialists even at this denomination.
