| 正面铭文 | Die Stadtkasse Emmendingen zahlt gegen diesen Gutschein Zehn Pfennig EMMENDINGEN, den 1. August 1917. Der Gemeinderat: Bürgermeister Ratschreiber |
| 背面描述 | The reverse is printed in grey on cream paper and centres on a large circular vignette bearing the municipal coat of arms of Emmendingen — a quartered shield with a diagonal band, supported by two figures and surmounted by a crown — encircled by the legend 'STADTGEMEINDE EMMENDINGEN' and the founding year '1590'. The denomination numeral '10' appears in ornate guilloche cartouches at each corner, linked by a continuous interlaced border consistent with the obverse design. |

| 备注 |
Emmendingen's municipal treasury issued this note in 1917 as small-denomination coinage effectively ceased to circulate — hoarding and metal requisitions had stripped pfennig coins from everyday transactions across Germany by mid-war. Thousands of German towns and municipalities printed their own Kleingeldersatz in this period, and most used whatever local printer was available, which accounts for the crude typography and thin paper stock common to the series.
At 60 × 33 mm, survival rates for notes this small are poor. Corner loss and fold damage are the rule, not the exception.
