Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms dominates the central field, depicting an eagle with wings spread, perched on a cactus growing from a rock in a lake, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons, all resting upon a wreath of oak and laurel branches. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs across the upper field, while the denomination DIEZ PESOS and the weight specification 28.888 G are inscribed to the left and right respectively. The fineness LEY 900 appears at the lower right, the mint date 1960 is placed at the bottom, and the Mexico City Mint mark Mo is positioned below the eagle. The design follows the standard heraldic style employed on Mexican silver coinage of the mid-twentieth century.
