| Obverse description | The obverse displays the Mexican national coat of arms in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, depicting a golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The design faithfully renders the Aztec founding legend, with finely detailed feathering on the eagle's wings and body. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the central device, tied with a ribbon. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin capital letters. |
