| 正面描述 | The obverse displays the crossed flags of Cuba and Spain beneath the Cuban Coat of Arms, centrally positioned in the field. The legend surrounding the design reads VISITA REAL A CUBA and CIUDAD DE LA HABANA 1999, with REPUBLICA DE CUBA arching above. Fineness and weight specifications, AG 0,999 and 1 OZ, are inscribed in the lower portion of the field. This side serves as the obverse trial, with the full decorative composition struck but the reverse left as a plain proof surface for testing purposes. |

Spain's King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía visited Cuba in November 1999 — the first Spanish royal visit to the island since independence — a diplomatic moment freighted with obvious historical weight given the circumstances of Cuba's separation from Spain a century earlier. The Cuban mint produced trial pieces for this commemorative issue before finalizing the obverse design, making this an obverse trial striking rather than a circulation or standard collector piece.
Trial pieces of this type rarely enter the market; most were retained institutionally or destroyed after approval.
