Obverse description The obverse features the Mexican national coat of arms in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field: a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, devouring a serpent clutched in its beak and right talon, its wings raised in a heraldic spread. The device is framed below by a wreath of oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon. The curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters.
